From the Sky
There are no words I can speak other than time. The sweet words of space say everything inside of me. Look at the fallen leaf. Pulling it from high branches requires such effort. But when it falls when ready it dances with such grace often times gently before your feet. Pick me up then and walk me home in your hands as this surprise fell just for you today from the sky. I fall one thousand times a day for you. Each time you want to tug my hand, think of the sad face of the leaf – how it crumbles when moved with force. Remember the miracles that fall with time.

My Dearest Hafiz
It has been a while since I have visited the friend I’ve grown so fond of, thanks to you. I yearn to get drunk again in his presence. There are hundreds of bottles awaiting me at home, but I sense I am still so far away. My lips are no longer wine stained, as this long trip has tired me. Write soon. Remind me why it is we wake to see the sun.
even the birds sleep –
Note: Hafiz was a 14th-century Persian mystic and poet. Among many other names, he often referred to god as The Friend. Reference to drunkenness and wine was not used literally; in this sense, it was imagery used to express soul-connection with the divine.
"The way you make love
is the way God will be with you."
Tonight I am absent and you can see it in my eyes. Plans, bills, another appointment to remember – there's always something else on my mind.
You feel me as if I am the desert wind – comforted by my warmth, but slightly pushing against the ease of you.
It is as if you are searching for a lost treasure in my eyes. Even in the darkness, a bright gem's light is hard to see.
All at once, my shielded eyes soften, exposing such vulnerability. Again, I've been reminded of all that takes me from you. How could I have been so foolish?
